Through the Communicable Disease Follow-up program, Wayne County Public Health Department provides disease investigation and follow-up for communicable diseases reported to the Iowa Department of Public Health by local health providers.

The Wayne County Health Department has a team that follows up on all reportable diseases. Follow-up may or may not include telephone interviews, written CDC forms, referral, lab work, and/or treatment.
Contacts to infectious disease may or may not qualify for lab testing and/or preventative treatment. Persons with questions or concerns may call for information. Some examples of reportable infectious diseases are tuberculosis, hepatitis, and meningitis.
